Simone Biles missed out on the chance to add to her seven Olympic gold medals on the final day of gymnastics at Paris 2024, although she did win silver in the womens floor exercise final on Monday.

Brazils Rebeca Andrade clinched the gold medal, with Biles making an error-strewn start to her routine after struggling in warm-ups.

Biles, who has spoken about the mental health challenges she has faced in recent years, was visibly emotional after the competition.

"I've achieved more than my wildest dreams," she said. "I'm so proud of myself and my team. I'm just grateful for the opportunity to compete at another Olympics."

Biles's silver medal takes her total Olympic medal count to 11, including seven golds. She is the most decorated American gymnast in history.
