Mississippi State head football coach Mike Leach died Monday night from complications of a heart condition. He was 61.
Known for his innovative coaching style and outspoken personality, Leach led teams at Texas Tech, Washington State, and Mississippi State to unprecedented success. He was the winningest coach in Texas Tech history and the architect of the high-scoring Air Raid offense that revolutionized college football.
"Coach Leach was a football icon," said Mississippi State Athletic Director John Cohen. "He was a visionary coach who changed the game of football. He will be dearly missed by the Mississippi State family and the entire college football community."
