England Drawn in Group C for EURO 2024
Three Lions to Face Denmark, Serbia, and Slovenia
Gareth Southgate's England team will face Denmark, Serbia, and Slovenia in Group C of the 2024 UEFA European Championship, it was announced today.
England will open their campaign against Serbia on June 21, before taking on Denmark on June 25 and Slovenia on June 29. The Three Lions will be hoping to reach the knockout stages of the tournament for the first time since 2012.
Southgate said he is "excited" by the challenge of facing three strong opponents in Group C.
“We know that Denmark, Serbia, and Slovenia will be tough opponents, but we believe that we have the quality to progress to the knockout stages,” Southgate said. “We will be working hard in the coming months to prepare for the tournament and we are confident that we can make a positive impression in Germany.”
England last won a major tournament in 1966, when they lifted the World Cup on home soil. They have reached the semi-finals of the European Championship on three occasions, most recently in 1996.
