Guillermo Varela makes Eintracht Frankfurt move

Uruguayan defender Guillermo Varela is joining Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan from Manchester United.

The 24-year-old right-back has been on loan at the Bundesliga club since January and has impressed with his performances.

Varela began his career with Peñarol in his home town of Montevideo before joining Manchester United in 2013. He has since played for Real Madrid Castilla, Eintracht Frankfurt and Penarol.

Varela has been capped by Uruguay at under-20 and under-23 level and was part of the squad that won the Copa America in 2015.

He will be hoping to help Eintracht Frankfurt challenge for a European place next season.
